Steel Blue, an Australian manufacturer of premium safety boots (including their signature range of ladies’ Pink and Purple Boots), has been one of our oldest and most steadfast supporters, donating more than $1.4 million to date and helping us to raise breast cancer awareness in the community by promoting our awareness campaigns.
Steel Blue donates $10 from the Australia-wide sale of their Purple Southern Cross® Ladies, Pink Southern Cross® Zip Ladies and the Purple Argyle® Ladies Boot to Breast Cancer Care WA. These boots are carefully designed for women’s feet, and the vibrant colours also offer a potential starting point for conversations about breast cancer awareness. The packaging for Steel Blue’s Pink and Purple Boots includes a shower tag diagram that highlights the importance of checking for changes through educational diagrams.
Importantly, Steel Blue funding also supports the role of the Steel Blue Support Services Coordinator, who manages the critical financial and practical care of our clients.
Over the years, Steel Blue has supported several vital education initiatives, including:
- A youth education program that’s aligned with the curriculum and designed to reduce fear, raise awareness and highlight available support services;
- Online campaigns to improve the community’s knowledge of breast cancer, dispel outdated myths and teach people how to be breast aware; and
- A PhD research project to research and develop a leading national online community that supports people affected by breast cancer, particularly those in regional and remote areas.
To be part of something that has aided over 10,000 people is more than we hoped this partnership would achieve 13 years ago.
