If You’ve Just Been Diagnosed

A diagnosis of breast cancer can be life-changing and confusing. If you need support with this change, our team can walk you through some, or many parts of your journey, tailored to your specific needs. Your care with us could include support from a specialist breast care nurse, one-on-one counselling, support groups, therapy workshops, or practical or financial backup, completely free-of-charge. We’re here to walk beside you.

A conversation is a great place to start. We can have a chat about your situation, your particular needs, or answer any questions you have about your breast cancer experience.

What happens next

You may be assigned a breast care nurse or counsellor, or have a chat with our Support Services Coordinator about financial or practical support.

Keeping yourself and the person you care for well are equally important. Our range of support for partners and carers can be personalised to your needs.

How we help

Our services cater to the unique needs and challenges faced by each individual, and are available for the whole family – husbands, wives, children and carers.

Support Services

Our team is able to provide information and support from the time of diagnosis, through to treatment and follow up. Our services include specialist breast care nursing care, counselling, access to peer-appropriate support groups, therapeutic workshops, financial and practical support, wellness education and breast care awareness. 

Specialist Breast Care Nurses

Our specialist breast care nurses are there for every step. They help our clients understand their diagnoses and treatment plans, navigate health services, and communicate and liaise with multidisciplinary care teams.

Counsellors

Our counsellors provide personalised one-on-one counselling sessions, facilitate monthly peer-appropriate support groups, and hold regular art and clay therapy workshops.

Financial & Practical Support

Our Support Service Coordinator can provide a limited amount of financial and practical assistance to eligible clients struggling to pay basic utility bills, fuel or groceries due to a cancer diagnosis.

Living Well Program

Breast Cancer Care WA presents a suite of wellness activities, interactive workshops, educational webinars, discussion groups and community events designed to empower people who have completed active treatment for early breast cancer. or are living with metastatic breast cancer.

Support Groups

Our counsellors facilitate monthly support groups tailored to age and breast cancer stage in various locations throughout the metropolitan and regional areas.
