PAST ACTIVITIES
A bus trip to New Norcia
Our Luxury Coach transported us to Australia’s only monastic town 132 kilometres north of Perth. We were privileged to see 'behind closed doors' in many of New Norcia’s richly decorated buildings, some not otherwise accessible to the public. The monastery Prior, Dom Christopher explained the life of a monk at New Norcia with warmth and humour. Some of us were given the opportunity to share a sung meditation with the monks.
A Tasting Plate of Healing Therapies
A Tasting Plate of Healing Therapies gave a group of survivors and their supporters an opportunity to hear about and experience several therapies of a healing nature. Many thanks to David Oliver of Solariscare, Steve Smith from the Chemo Club, our own Clarisse Jennings who showed us spiritual healing, Britt Barkman, Naturopath and Nutritionist, Rosemary Arnott who demonstrated Australian flower essence therapy and Susan, Deb and Patricia from WA Laughter Club who lead us in cocktail laughs, witches’ laughs and toddler tantrums!
Focus on Healing
This fabulous day saw a select group of ladies singing and dancing like showgirls, giggling like schoolgirls and generally having a great time whilst improving their mobility and fitness.
Tara Hall conducted a class of therapeutic movement designed specifically for women who have undergone breast surgery. The afternoon finished with some laughter yoga (hence the giggling) and some personal affirmations. If you missed out, call BCFWA or Tara on 0423 106 417 for a second chance.
Relaxation and Stress Management through Hypnotherapy
A room full of women lying on the floor, head on pillows would have been a big surprise to anyone peering through the window. Our facilitator guided us gently into a relaxed state that some of us were reluctant to leave. Mandy also gave us some take-away tips and tools.
Facilitated by Mandy Meadows, Clinical Hypnotherapist
Belly Dancing
Our teacher Shaheena led us through travelling turns, stretches and arm movements to exotic –sounding and energetic music. Some of us discovered muscles we didn’t know we had and we learned about the health benefits of Belly Dancing. We also enjoyed refreshments of Middle Eastern cuisine.
