Exercise programs

  • The Cancer Council WA Life Now Program - ‘Offers free group programs including yoga, meditation, exercise and stress management classes for people affected by cancer. All participants are assessed by a Vario Institute trained Exercise Physiologist’

  • Mind Body Physio - Their ‘mission is to help our patients and clients develop sound body & movement awareness, so that they are empowered to their recovery & form healthy long term exercise habits with confidence. Run by Petrina Burdett, breast cancer survivor and BCNA Consumer Representative.
  • Solariscare - ‘Steve Smith’s gym “Aspire Fitness” at the Claremont Oval is the home of the Chemo Club. Exercise has been shown to reduce the side effects from cancer treatment, improve energy levels, aid immune function, and may even improve outcomes in some types of cancer. The sessions are attended by a physiotherapist,exercise physiologist and trained nurses (all volunteers). The Chemo Club is free and operates totally on donated services. It is open to all cancer patients. This is a donation-in-kind from Aspire Fitness to the SolarisCare Foundation.’
  • Vario Health and Wellness Institute - The Vario Wellness Clinic is a holistic, multidisciplinary health and wellness facility located at ECU Joondalup. The Clinic offers leading edge, evidence-based wellness programs, integrated consulting and assessment services across the disciplines of exercise physiology, dietetics, occupational therapy, psychology and physiotherapy’.  Well supervised by exercise physiologists trained to assist clients with cancer. World leading research programs here – nothing else quite like it in the world!
