Dandaragan Long Table Lunch - hosted by Badgingarra. Sunday, May 6.

In 2011, the fourth Dandaragan Long Table Lunch was hosted by Jurien Bay raised over $27,500 for Breast Cancer Care WA.  In 2012, the lunch will be hosted in Badgingarra on Sunday May 6.

Creators of the event Linda Brown and Mum Kerry McMillen will support Alli Whybrow and her crew of generous helpers from Badgingarra to bring this fantastic event alive for the fifth time.

Each year the event grows and brings together many local communities who celebrate, embrace and remember people close to them who have been through breast cancer.

Results will be published here soon from the 2012 Dandaragan Long Table Lunch hosted by the wonderful community of Badgingarra.

Double trouble head shave

Stacey and Bec from Karratha, two inspirational and brave women, have shaved their heads to fundraise and help women going through breast cancer treatment.

Some women and even men find the thought of shaving off their hair very confronting and intimidating but to Stacey and Bec it was a walk in the park and they continued to smile from ear to ear throughout the whole experience.  Stacey's mother Irene is currently going through breast cancer treatment in Perth and Stacey's father surprised Irene with a flight to Karratha so as not to miss out on all the action.

Leading up to the big head shave, Stacey and Bec fundraised by holding a raffle which was hosted by the Tambrey Tavern.  Then on Friday, 23 March at Life and Soul Health and Fitness Club, Stacey, Bec and what seems like the entire Karratha community turned up to support them in their quest.

Thank you so much Stacey, Bec, The Tambrey Tavern, Life and Soul and the Karratha community for your amazing show of generosity.  An awesome $9,044 was raised.

Thinking of Emma

At the age of 34, Emma Taylor was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer on June 16, 2011 and with a young family to look after she pushed herself through seven difficult months of surgery and treatment.

In support of her journey with breast cancer, friends Alison and Julie made and sold a custom range of natural poured soy wax candles raising an amazing $1,650 and Aunties Hazel and Debbie raised a further $438.50 in a sponsored abseil whilst in the UK.

Emma was very teary when she handed us the cheque saying how grateful she was for the love and support of her family, friends, colleagues and Breast Cancer Care WA. We are also very grateful for your support.

Annual Boob Party

Thank you and congratulations to Carolyn Banks who organised her fourth annual Boob Party on February 4 at the Williams Hotel. Over 100 people enjoyed the party and kicked up their heels on the dance floor whilst getting involved with raffles and auctions to win some great prizes.

The highlight for Carolyn was watching everyone having a great time and seeing how her event grows each year. A big thank you to the Town of Williams for getting behind Carolyn and helping her raise $3,425.40.

Women only triathlon

In December The University of Western Australia Triathlon Club in conjunction with the Women’s Academy of Triathlon held a women’s only triathlon at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre in Kelmscott and raised $1,170 by donating participant entry fees.

The focus of their events is to challenge women in a supportive environment, to keep fit and fundraise. Their triathlons are suited to women at any fitness level, as long as you can swim a bit, ride a bike and jog.

Thanks to Vicki and Charles from The University of Western Australia Triathlon Club for your ongoing support.
