About Us
Consumer Representative Group
Action on Breast Cancer is the BCFWA’s consumer representative group. With members having various personal experiences through their diagnosies, they are a key resource for the BCFWA.
They assist in raising awareness of breast cancer and furthering improvement of our services, information, and support for West Australians affected by breast cancer
Who We Are
Action on Breast Cancer, (AoBC) established in 1998, is a group of dedicated breast cancer survivors using their unique experience to influence decision making for research, treatment, care and support for those affected by breast cancer
What We Do

Help raise awareness of the impact of breast cancer and the needs of those affected by the disease in the WA community

Promote the importance of early detection, optimal treatment and support

Promote and develop AoBC as a well informed, respected consumer representation group

AoBC provides representation on boards, committees, groups and organisations which influence decision making within health care at a State and National level
How We Do It

Attend events such as Dowerin Field Days to talk to rural women about breast cancer

Hold Field of Women and other events during Breast Cancer Awareness month

Distribute literature and address women’s groups, support groups and high school students

Give presentations about the consumer perspective to medical students and health professionals at seminars, forums and conferences

Invite us to present at your event about breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection

Let us know of any consumer issue involving breast cancer treatment which needs addressing
How You Can Help Us

Assist us to secure speaking engagements for women’s groups, school students and support groups, or make presentations at seminars/conferences run by health professionals wherever possible

Become a committee member of AoBC and participate in all our awareness raising activities

Become a consumer representative, as a member of a decision making board, committee, advisory group, forum, panel or focus group dealing with issues such as early detection, treatment, care and management of breast cancer - Become an AoBC presenter and share your unique experience
